Tim G asked:

Just graduated (with loans), and am in the application process with TSA. I wanted to know if my loans will affect my credit check negatively.

I will tell you if you are late on payments..they do report to the credit agencies. My Sallie Mae school loans all showed up.

Student loans will affect your report positively if you have made all minimum payments on time. It will affect you negatively if you have been late on payments a lot. It’s not a huge deal though if you’ve been late on one or two payments, but it is bad.

Like the others said, if you are current on your payments, or are in a deferral or similar situation, the loans will be on your credit report as open accounts, but will reflect positively.
