How can you rescind signature on student loans you co-signed for husband who now wants a divorce?
cher I asked:
Wife co-signs loans for law school hubby. Now in second yr of law school he wants divorce. How much is she on the line for? She is an undergraduate also w loans which he did not co-sign. Can she rescind co-signature?

you have to put it in the divorce decree that he has responsibility for the loan and payments and once its final look into the back to see if there is a way that they can take your name off the loan kinda like a quick cut deed each bank is different so i would look into it before and after…. there may be a way to get your name off before hand if you talk to a bank official

You can’t . Why would the finance company let you off the hook for a debt you signed to guarantee ?

Why not seek out professional help? There are a lot of good organizations out there that can help you find the answer to all of your questions.

I don’t think you can. especially since you’re the only reason he got the loan to start with cause without your signature he’d be declined. That’s why you have to be careful who you cosign for. I promse you no matter what you put in that divorce decree, if he doesn’t pay them, they will come after you.
