just reality asked:

Okay, so in a nut shell, after receiving the loans I qualify for, I qualify for 9,000 dollars worth of loans, scholarships, grants, plus a 12,000 direct parent loan, but I can’t take out the direct parent loan because my parents are not paying for my college. So basically all I can get is the 9000 dollars. BUT I need 14,000 to be able to afford school. Where can I get more loans?

adgbirdib asked:

I have like 4 different student loans through sallie mae and i got like $400 in payments all together per month and they will not only not consolidate them but will no longer work with me on lowering payments. Seems like all i do is pay interest anyways! So i just want to find a bank out there to consolidate for me so i only have (ONE) interest rate and (ONE) payment… and I would also like to say CYA to the greedy pricks!

L asked:

I’m currently a junior in college and I’m considering taking out a loan for the first time to help with costs. I’ve been looking over the different types of student loans available and am completely lost by the jargon. Specifically, I would like to know about the origination fees, rebates, differences between subsidized and unsubsidized loans, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
My school is part of the UC system, if that makes any difference.
